Fun with Jesus - Gingerbread House

Fun with Jesus – Gingerbread House

Jesus was playing Peek-a-Boo with me in a Gingerbread house.

I’m outside watching Jesus peek at me through a window then disappear only to poke His head out through a different window.

Jesus flew up the chimney, quickly opened a door, looked out at me then closed it.

Jesus:  Come on inside.

[Inside is adorable.  Gingerbread-ish.]

Jesus:  Come on.

We flew up to the 2nd story loft and looked down.

Me:  This is… unusual.

Jesus:  [laughed]

Me:  I like it.

Jesus:  So do I.

Jesus goes into the kitchen, opens the oven and pulls out a cookie sheet with gingerbread cookies on it.

Jesus:  Would you like one?

Me: Yes, but aren’t they hot?

Jesus:  Blow on it.

Me:  [I blew, instantly cooled.  I took a bite.]   Delicious; crunchy, soft, chewy, spicy.

Jesus:  Glad you like it.   [He took a big bite. Delighting in the taste by the look on His face.]

He grabbed my hand and went outside to the back of the house.

Jesus:  Here, try this.  [He pulled off a piece of the house.]  Taste it.

[It tasted like peppermint; and I watched the area grow back to the house.]

Jesus:  [grinning]  I can do anything.

Me:  I see that.

We glided over to a tree that is in the backyard.  It looked like it was made out of frosting.  Jesus pulled a green piece off the tree.  Instantly it grew back.

Jesus:  Taste this.

Me: [I took it and ate it.  It tasted green and minty.]  Good.

Jesus:  Great.  Now, look up.

I saw a cloud.  We ascended to stand in front of it.

Jesus:  Would you like to taste this?

Me:  Sure.

[He pulled off a piece; instantly, it grew back.]

Me: [It tasted like cotton candy; mild flavored.  Vanilla!]  Oh my!

Jesus grinned.

We flew down to the front of the house next to a fence.  I’m looking at Jesus and He’s looking at me.  I shrug.  He shrugs in response. I think He’s going to ask me to taste the fence, which for some reason, doesn’t sound appealing to me. Wordless communication.

We flew over the fence into the yard.

He looks at the grass and then at me.  I shrug.  He shrugs in response.  Then bends down to pull up a blade of grass.  Instantly, the grass grows back.  He places the blade in His mouth and chews on it like a cowboy would with a piece of hay.

Me:  Well?  What does THAT taste like?

Jesus:  Grass.  [laughing]  Come on, more to show you.

We fly up to sit on the roof.

Jesus:  You know, this is edible too.

Me:  I know.  [Seemingly not interested in tasting it.]

Jesus slid down the roof to a porch swing. I slide down after Him.  We sit side by side, the swing gently moving.

Jesus:  Here it is.  You have preconceived ideas of what things taste like.  Well…. You and everyone else.

Me:  Yes?

Jesus:  I’m changing that.

Me:  Okay.

Jesus: Good, so don’t be surprised about this when it happens. Food tastes very different and usually not very tasty right now.  But there’s going to be a change-up.

Me:  Good!  Will carrots taste like carrots again?

Jesus:  Yes, but there will be different varieties that have different subtle flavors.

Me:  Good.  I’m looking forward to it.

Jesus:  Would you be surprised if I tell you that roofs in Heaven taste like chocolate?

Me:  No.

Jesus:  [smiling]  I’m glad….  You’re learning….

Me:  Yep.   [pausing]  So DO roofs in Heaven taste like chocolate?

Jesus:  [laughing] They can.

Note:  Gingerbread represents the Word made palatable.

Carrots represent healthy eating.

Do you think Jesus created a pun??

Praise as Warfare: What the Evil One doesn't want you to know!

Praise as warfare:  What the Evil One doesn’t want you to know! While preparing this blog, I encountered spiritual warfare.  Evidently the evil one doesn’t want me to post this conversation I had with God. Me:  I read, ‘nothing terrifies the devil and his demons like praise’.   Is this true, Lord?  God:  It doesn’t terrify them.  However, it IS a reminder, a tool for warfare and it does thwart them. Me:  I also read, ‘constant praise wards off depression, disappointments, despair’  Is this true? God:  Yes, remember the scripture, ‘Think on these things’? Because it keeps your mind where it should be.  I have provided for My people.  However, many choose not to.  It IS their choice. They either pick up the ‘tool’ and use it or not. Me:  Is Biblical praise more powerful than ‘regular’ praise? God:  Yes, because it uses the W...
